Celebrating 10 YEARS of Rent Cheque in a 500-person (air-conditioned) venue in beautiful, scenic East Vancouver located at: 1880 TRIUMPH ST.
We will be accepting 400 bodies into this affair so there is a bit of room for people to space out if they would like this accommodation. Our venue is wheelchair accessible and tables will set up alongside the perimeter of the room with easy viewing access to the stage.
Tickets are available at the door for $10-$15 sliding scale.
$5 tickets are available for community members in need.
Chain of events is:
-Doors at 7pm. We will have sex-positive vendors and food stuff for purchase to start off the perfect night out.
-Entertainment starts at 8pm with a stacked roster of professional performers to entertain and amp you up.
-Amateur $trip competition from 9pm-11:45pm.
-Crowd judges the winner between 3 finalists between 11:45-midnight.
-Winner walks away into the glory of Saturday night with $1000!
Why is an early $trip show is an A+ choice for your Saturday night?
1) If you are a responsible person, you can go out and have fun and be in bed before midnight.
2) If you are an irresponsible person, is there any better way to set the tone and speed for your all nighter / weekender?!

NO PHOTOS ARE ALLOWED ASIDE FROM OUR HIRED PHOTOG.
There will be a selfie corner near the front entry set up for people who wanna take their own pics of them and their friends but Zilch/Nada/ NO pics in the bar- not even the crowd. NOPE JUST DON’T.
Nudity is NOT necessary when performing.
Whatever your comfort level for performance is your comfort level.
If you feel confident that you can get the loudest reaction in the venue in a blow up dinosaur suit, then baby- give it a goddamn go.
While we are absolutely a party night featuring a competition that gives cash money out at the end of the night- we are also an entry level stage for amateur performers of any and all kinds to step in front of a large, welcoming and positive audience. We are a stage for people who have had a shitty day and want to feel the rush and joy of hundreds of people applauding them for taking their top off. We are a stage for people who want to celebrate their bodies and whatever else is worth celebrating on that night. We are a stage for artists of all sorts to experiment and make political commentary on. We are a stage for when you wanna double dare yourself to try something new.
Yes, most people if not everyone wants to go home with money in their pocket. But there is value in performing if you see value in performing. Don’t let not feeling ready to compete be the thing that holds you back. Come as you are, and figure it out as you go. There is no system or guaranteed way to win Rent Cheque. There is just that room on that particular night, the random assortment of people who have shown up and what you bring to the stage with you.
We are a event that tries to make where we are as safe of a space as possible, and as accessible as possible. We will make assholes leave, we won’t let known abusers into the venue when we are there, and we want everyone who steps onto that stage to have a positive and affirming experience. That is our goal and what we endeavour toward.
Rent Cheque aims to cater to queer, artist types (like us) but we are open to anyone who understands consent culture (or is at least willing to learn some basics to attend) and likes a honky tonkin’ tits out good time where random or unexpected things are likely to occur.
Rent Cheque does NOT have a dress code.
You don’t need to be a certain level of cool, queer or kinky to show up to this event.
Dress as up or as down as you want.
Toplessness is LEGAL and allowed at this event when you walk in the door.
Bottomlessness, is technically illegal in the crowd and can only be on stage when performing.
No professional strippers allowed in the competition.
We are happy to take pros as openers and will pay an honorarium and help you promote at the event and online, but we are a strict amateurs only comp. If interested, please reach out.
After someone wins Rent Cheque three times, they graduate out of our competition but are welcome to come back as an opener.
Rent Cheque is sober friendly if you can handle drunken raucous. There are lots of distractions and fun to be had aside from booze, but it does obviously take place in a bar environment.
